We are proud to finally launch Pitari Japan, a work of love that has taken almost an entire year to produce. Pitari Japan is designed to be the ultimate way to discover new travel itineraries for Japan. Each itinerary is designed to be fuss-free, you can follow it as-is, or add your own flourishes to it. Our goal is really for visitors to Japan to go beyond the “touristy” feel of Japan, and get a glimpse into the charm of Japan. Whether this be the amazing sights of nature, great food options, or traditional streets and shrines of Japan.
We curate itineraries based on our own personal experiences, and aim to fuse together the personal and insightful tone of a blog, with the well-structured style and discoverability of a travel website. Where possible, we try to give a backstory to each location, to give a stronger sense of purpose and meaning, and to allow visitors to better understand the value and importance of a place. Whether it be the special ingredients and attention a restaurant takes, or the history behind a certain historical site.
We also want visitors to Japan to experience and understand Japan in an authentic way. Often times, many sites fully translate all the Japanese terms into their English equivalents, losing the nuance, and also the vocabulary that one can lose when communicating with the locals. Pitari Japan bridges this language gap by adding contextual information to each Japanese term used, with the romaji (ローマ字, Rōmaji) and kanji (漢字) available to read at a glance, and additional information and definitions when you click onto it.
Detailed transport directions are also provided between place to place, typically providing the best combination of time and price for the route. Itineraries are also optimized to minimize traveling time, grouping together nearby places so that you can see more with less time. We truly aim to curate the best experience you can get out of Japan, in as short a time as possible. Not to rush the experience, but really to maximize the value that you get out of the time you put in.
That being said, this site is very much a work-in-progress. There are many features, ideas, and locations that we would like to include, so look forward to the site’s growth in future. Unlike many other travel sites, you might notice that we have a versioning system located at the top besides the logo. We aim to iteratively update the site with new content and features, and so a versioning system makes it easy for repeat visitors to discover new content that has been added to the site.
Today’s release marks V1.0.0, and we are considering this as a beta release for Pitari Japan. We hope that the content and information that this site provides will help you fell in love with Japan as much as we have.
Written with love,
The Pitari Japan Team
