A visit to Kichi Kichi is half-meal and half-performance, as the shop’s master (マスター, Masutā, Owner), Yukimura Motokichi (幸村 元吉), dazzles you with his cooking skills. This charismatic owner has gone viral on Youtube and Instagram for his enthusiastic attitude, and pizzazz while cooking his omurice (オムライス, Omuraisu, Omelette rice). As you sit at the counter, you marvel at his skills as he stir fries the rice, flipping it through the air, as he explains each ingredient and the seasoning that goes into it, before finally cooking the omelette, flipping it onto the bed of rice, and then slicing it open to watch the yellow goodness flow all over the rice.
There are only 8 seats in the shop, and so reservations can be made up to 4 weeks in advance. Reservations open at 11am JST every Sunday, and can be done online via the official website. While walk-ins might be possible, these are entirely by chance, and are usually only available after the last slot of the day or if there are any no-shows.
We highly recommend making a reservation in order to secure your seat.
Kichi Kichi Omurice's Story
Operating since 1978, the owner, Yukimura Motokichi, prides himself on delivering a great experience to customers, and bringing smiles to their faces. You can see it from the way that he cooks, interacts with customers, and is always willing to put on a show, it’s a great display of Japan’s omotenashi (お持て成し, Japanese spirit of hospitality).

The only dish on the menu is omurice, you can get it in the Kichi Kichi style, which comes with demiglace sauce (デミグラスソース, Demigurazu Sōsu), in a half-size (ハーフ, hāfu), or a vegetable version (ベジタブルオムライス, bejitaburi omuraisu).
The rice is cooked with ketchup, giving it a bright red appearance, together with meat chunks and onions that are stir-fried together. It’s then topped with an egg omelette, then when sliced open, flows over the bed of rice, that is cooked on the bottom, while gooey at the top. Lastly, it’s topped with a savory demiglace sauce.
