One of the trademark specialties of Enoshima is the huge tako senbei (たこ煎餅, Octopus Cracker), sold by Asahi Honten at the top of Enoshima. They also have a branch along Benzaiten Nakamise-dori, but the queues at their main shop at the top of the hill are usually shorter. Plus you get seats, and a view overlooking the ocean.
You can choose between tako (たこ, Octopus), ebi (海老, Prawn), or mixed. As well as between the toku-dai (特大, extra large sized), or the futsu (ふつ, normal sized one). For first-timers, we recommend getting the toku-dai tako one, since it’s a truly remarkable experience to eat it. To make the senbei, the flour and the seafood ingredients are pressed down tightly onto a hot grill, giving it the thin crispy texture and flattening the seafood in the process.
