Minori Gelato is a gelato shop that specializes in serving gelato with local Shodoshima ingredients. There are typically around 10 to 15 different flavors available throughout the year, with flavors changing depending on the season.
Some of the local Shodoshima flavors include: olives, green kiwi, shoyu (醤油, Shōyu, Soy Sauce), sake kasu (酒粕, Sake Lees), amanatsu (甘夏, a citrus fruit), and ao-ume (青梅, green plum). With the triple flavor gelato, you can really try out a wide variety of local flavors that you wouldn’t be able to get anywhere else.
Personally, we recommend the fruit-based gelatos for a light and sweet taste with the freshness of the fruits coming through. Olives and shoyu are rather unique flavors representative of Shodoshima, but their tastes might be an acquired one, so it might be better to just try out one of the two. Apart from the nice terrace seats, we also recommend heading over to the wharf so that you can sit by the pier, staring out into the sea as you eat your gelato.
