Daikanbo and Kurobe-daira are the two intermediate stops between the Kurobe Dam (黒部ダム, Kurobe Damu) and Murodo (室堂) where you have to get off and make transfers to a different mode of transport. Each has its own unique sets of things to see and do, and both boast a open-air observation deck, allowing you to slow down and take in the scenery.
Recommended Spots in Daikanbo and Kurobe-daira
Kurobe-daira (lit. Kurobe Plateau) is also a rather small station, but it has a rather large gift shop and also a soba (蕎麦, Buckwheat noodles) shop housed within. It's a great shop to pick up some unique omiyage (お土産, Souvenir) that can only be found on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Outside the gift shop there is also a small botanical garden, and there is also a small observation deck located atop the gift shop.
