Den Den Town is Osaka’s equivalent of Tokyo’s (東京, Tōkyō) Akihabara (秋葉原, Akihabara), the name is also a reference to its history as an electronics district with the “den” standing for denki (電気, electricity). Today, like Akihabara, the area is a mixed of electronics and computer shops, as well as a wide variety of goods for those interested in anime (アニメ) and manga (漫画) sub-culture.
There are also often maids (メイド, Meido) standing along the street to try and attract customers to their maid cafes (メイドカフェ, Meido Kafe). Unlike touts in the more shady districts of Japan, these aren’t actually scams, but to be safe, we recommend not following them just in case.
