Umeda Sky Building (梅田スカイビル)

Admire Osaka's nightscape from a 360 degree viewing platform

The Umeda Sky Building consists of two 40-story tall office buildings connected on the 39th floor as the Floating Garden Observatory. Visitors can see the surroundings of Osaka city indoors on the 40th floor, and on the open-air rooftop observatory above. Built in 1993, this 170m tall building was actually constructed as two separate towers, before the central observatory that connected the two buildings was slowly hoisted up from the ground floor all the way to the top, and then connected to the two towers.

Fishmonger Stand Fujiko is a hidden gem located in the basement of Umeda Station. Well hidden to foreigners, but you'll definitely find a long-line of locals queueing outside even before opening hours. The shop's tagline is that "the only good thing about the shop is that the seafood is cheap" (海鮮が安いだけの店, kaisen ga yasui dake no mise), which is a really cheeky way of touting their best selling point. However, locals in the know swear by how fresh and how cheap the seafood here is.
