The Miura area is famous for its fresh seafood, and at Ki no Dai, you can try out a wide variety of seafood dishes. With their Kobachi Don (小鉢丼), you can pick two small rice bowls from a variety of 11 different types.
Our recommendation is to get the Maguro Tsuke Don (まぐろづけ丼), shoyu (醤油, Shōyu, Soy Sauce) marinated tuna rice bowl, and the Kobashira Kakiage Don (小柱かき揚げ丼), a fried pancake of small clams and vegetables on rice. The marination on the tuna helps to bring out its taste, while the freshness results in a slightly firm texture with each bite. The kakiage (かき揚げ, Mixed vegetable tempura), on the other hand, is fried to a crisp, drizzled with a savory sweet sauce, with large bits of clam scattered throughout.
If you’re in a group, you can consider getting the Maguro Kamayaki (まぐろのかま焼き, grilled tuna collar) that comes with a large amount of meat, and a crispy layer of grilled fish skin. The Maguro Karaage (まぐろからあげ) is also a great choice – karaage is usually fried chunks of chicken, but here, tuna meat is used instead. So you get well-seasoned, juicy chunks of fried tuna.
For those using the Keikyu Maguro Kippu, you can redeem the Torotoro Don (とろとろ丼) that comes with tsuke-maguro (つけまぐろ, Seasoned Raw Tuna), bintoro (鬢とろ, Albacore tuna belly), maguro-yukke (ユッケ), negitoro (ネギトロ, Minced Tuna) on a bowl of rice.
