This bakery is located within a two-storey townhouse, with the bakery on the first floor and the owner’s residence on the second floor. Built to resemble the traditional Kawagoe townhouse, it was built using traditional construction techniques without any nails, uses recycled plastic bottles for insulation, and plaster for its walls. The small garden outside provides an al fresco space for customers to enjoy their meals in the comfort of greenery.
Be sure to try their curry pan (カレーパン, Karē Pan) that is a staple of Japanese bakeries, as well as their unique miso pan (味噌パン, miso bread) that uses miso from Chichibu. While one might think of miso as a salty condiment, the miso pan actually as a gentle sweet fragrance to it, and is crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside.
Bakery Raku Raku's Unique Points (こだわり, Kodawari)
The bread is made only from Japanese wheat sourced from a specific farm in Tokachi, Hokkaido. The ingredients are chosen to be as natural as possible, minimizing the use of preservatives, and things like curry or custard are made from scratch in-house. Even the yeast is made from homemade fermented seeds.
