Taiyaki (鯛焼き) is a classic Japanese dessert, dough that is cooked within a tai (鯛, Sea Bream) shaped mold, and filled with fillings such as anko (餡子, Red Bean Paste), and custard. Oyoge breaks the mold of the usual taiyaki shop (quite literally), by serving their taiyaki in shapes other than tai, made with their own special dough mixture, and innovative fillings using modern flavors.
Almost all their flavors change based on season, and have included things like rum and imo (芋, Sweet Potato), pumpkin caramel, anko with butter, and strawberry with white chocolate.
When you order it, it’s heated up on the grill at the shop to bring it back to its original crispiness. When you first bite into it, the crunch of the outside layer, and the lightness of the inside dough gives it a unique texture. The inside dough is chewy, yet light, without becoming too overbearing, and the fillings inside are typically very generous as well.
