Cafe Tamon is nestled within one of the beautiful old teahouses in the Higashi Chaya District (ひがし茶屋街, Higashi Chaya Machi), and specializes in rice-flour fluffy Japanese pancakes (パンケーキ, Pankēki). With a strong commitment to the environment and supporting local businesses, many of Cafe Tamon’s ingredients are locally and sustainably sourced.
Cafe Tamon offers a wide variety of pancake flavors from the sweet to the savory, and of course seasonal specials like kuri (栗, Chestnut). So which flavor to get depends on each person’s personal preference. Our general recommendation would be to get the Kaga-han Maeda-ka Goshoku no Komeko Fruits Pancake (加賀藩前田家 五色の米粉フルーツパンケーキ Five-colored Rice Flour Fruit Pancakes). A homage to the five-colored sweets that have been traditionally served in Ishikawa Prefecture (石川県, Ishikawa-ken) since its days as the Kaga Domain (加賀藩, Kaga-han), the rice-flour pancakes are served with fresh fruits of five-colors (strawberry, kiwi, orange, banana, blueberry), sourced from within Ishikawa Prefecture, and topped with honey, butter, whipped cream and maple syrup.
