The Sannomiya area of Kobe is the lifestyle heart of Kobe. While Kobe Station and Shin-Kobe Station are located a distance away, Sannomiya Station is where all of the different JR and local lines intersect, and naturally where people gather. While there isn't any particular place in Sannomiya to sightsee, it's a great place to stroll around at night to take in the atmosphere of the city. There's plenty of restaurants, bars, izakayas (居酒屋, Japanese pub) and shops around to keep you occupied. The Sannomiya area is also located right beside Kobe Chinatown (南京町, Nankin-machi).
