Originally opened in 1907, Touyoutei is one of the mainstays of yoshoku (洋食, Yōshoku, Western Food) restaurants in Kyoto. Their branch at Porta near Kyoto Station often commands long queues, especially amongst the local Japanese.
They specialize in a hamburg (ハンバーグ, Hanbāgu, Hamburger steak) that is wrapped in aluminium foil and served atop a hot plate. Many of the recipes used today, continue to be the exact same one that the shop used when they opened back in 1907, leading to many dishes being called "100 years".
