Toretore Ichiba, or Toretore Market, is West Japan's largest seafood market, serving up fresh seafood from across Japan, as well as some of the local omiyage (お土産, Souvenir) from Wakayama Prefecture (和歌山県, Wakayama-ken). Located in Shirahama (白浜), Toretore Ichiba features four main sections: Toretore Ichiba Toretore Yokocho, a souvenir section, and a seafood barbeque section.

There are just so many ways to dig into some of the freshest seafood in the region, from trying out some maguro (マグロ, Tuna) that's freshly cut live to picking out some of the items from the market and then grilling it right outside. It's definitely one of the must-visit attractions if you're in the area.

Market Corner is the fresh foods section of the market, serving up fresh seafood as well as local vegetables. The market features a live seafood display where you can select your choices straight from the tank, a fresh vegetables corner featuring local vegetables, a section showcasing Hokkaido seafood, and a live maguro (マグロ, Tuna) cutting demonstration around noon each day. While the maguro (マグロ, Tuna) auctions of Tsukiji Market (築地市場, Tsukiji-shijō) are famous, here at Toretore Ichiba, you can watch the maguro get cut live in front of you, and then buy some to try out on the spot! If you're hungry, you can check out the Toretore Yokocho, a food court that serves up local seafood in a variety of delectable formats. Here you can find dons, sushi (寿司), sashimi (刺身), grilled seafood, and more! If you want to dig into something and are too lazy to DIY it yourself, then this is the place for you! The food court also sells non-seafood options like ramen (ラーメン, Rāmen) and tendon (天丼, Tempura Rice Bowl) so fret not if you do not consume seafood!
