A beautiful takeout coffee stand in Kurashiki, the shop boasts a minimalist interior and is located in a former 100-year old kamaboko shop in the area. The owner is passionate about espressos, and so drip or siphon coffees are not on the menu here. The coffee beans are sourced from a popular Okayama shop, Kinoshita Shōten (キノシタショウテン), and the owner uses them to make his own original blend that he changes every few months to suit the season.
Outside the shop, you can see a display of the type of beans being used for the espresso, as well as the hot and cold coffees for the day. There are seven different types of coffee drinks available, with a light roast and a light bitterness. For those who don’t like coffee, matcha latte (抹茶ラテ, Maccha Rate) is also available, as well as homemade sodas in summer.
Come in for a casual conversation with the owner, Okamoto Bunta (岡本聞太), who speaks English after living in Australia for a period of time. Get your coffee to sit on the small bench inside the shop, or to-go as you explore the town while sipping on a nice cup of coffee.
