These caves were carved out by tidal erosion, and were the former site of the original Enoshima Shrine (江ノ島神社, Enoshima-jinja). Consisting of two separate areas, you can explore the first area with a candle in hand, winding through the path and exploring the narrow nooks and crannies like you’re an adventurer. It is said that one of these caves forks off and runs all the way to Mount Fuji (富士山, Fuji-san), while at another of these caves you can find a small shrine with statues of gods and Buddha too, which stands where the original Enoshima Shrine from 552 once stood.
You can walk then across to the other cave across a beautiful open-air viewing corridor that connects the two caves and overlooks the Sagami Bay (相模湾, Sagami-wan). It’s a great place for catching some photos! The second cave is rather short, but houses a large dragon statue at the back, as a reference to the legend that Enoshima was created by a dragon.
