Mellow Bake used to be part of a cafe in Enoshima, but that cafe closed down and the baker’s started her own store along the river. The store’s slightly hard to find – you walk down the river, and have to pass through a gap in the bushes down the stairs to what seems like a house but is… actually a storefront filled with the most delicious-looking bakes. There’s a good video on their Instagram on how to access it, so check that out if you’re nervous; otherwise, the Google Maps pin works just as well.
The bakes here are reasonably-priced, and really good; a wide variety of flavours are available too! Their muffins are chock-full of ingredients, while their cookies are the chunky type. The classic chocolate chip cookie is great, but for something slightly more out of the ordinary, try the cornbread. While it looks unassuming and plain, it has just the right amount of sweetness and corn flavour (with little bits of corn throughout), and has the perfect crumbly but moist texture! Grab some bakes (takeout only) to snack on the go as you continue with the rest of your Enoshima itinerary – you’ll have plenty of time to cover the rest of Enoshima Island!
