ミヤシタパーク

Miyashita Park

Shibuya's Aerial Park & Modern Lifestyle Complex

Operating Hours

08:00 to 11:00 (Daily)

Miyashita Park is a mixed park and commercial complex in (渋谷) that consists of a multi-floor shopping mall, "Rayard Miyashita Park", a rooftop park "Miyashita Park", a hotel "Sequence Miyashita Park", and a -style restaurant street "Shibuya Yokocho". It's one of the newer developments in Shibuya, opening in 2020, and sits on the grounds of the former Miyashita Park, which was a regular public park.
The rooftop park is a really popular place amongst youths to hang out, and if you stroll through the area, you'll see tons of high school and university students just hanging out in groups and chatting, or doing Tiktok. There's also a rock climbing wall, a skateboard park, and a beach volleyball court. The grass patches are really well-maintained, and it's pretty nice to actually just sit down and chat with people, or even sip on some coffee from the nearby Starbucks located in the park. At the end of the park, where the hotel, Sequence Miyashita Park, is located, there is actually a really nice cafe with nice chill vibes called Valley Park Stand that is not too crowded and a great place to rest your legs.
The hotel, Sequence Miyashita Park, itself is one the higher-end of things and definitely has one of the best locations in Tokyo, being located atop Miyashita Park itself and near Shibuya Station.
The mall itself stretches rather far, taking around 5 to 10 minutes to cover on foot from one end to the other. On the first floor, you can find Shibuya Yokocho a set of and restaurants with an al-fresco theme that comes to life at night and features foods across all the regions of Japan. The mall itself has a food court on the third-floor, although it mainly consists of fast food chains like McDonalds, Taco Bell, and Panda Express.

Miyashita Park Review and Thoughts

Recommended
Miyashita Park is probably our favourite place to hang around in Shibuya, mainly because it isn't as super overcrowded as other locations in Shibuya. It is by no means empty, but because the mall itself is so large, it diffuses the crowd across the various floors and levels.
Valley Park Stand
We're also partial towards it because Valley Park Stand on the top floor is one of our favourite remote work cafes in Tokyo, so it's a place we often visit, especially since it opens late into the night.
Miyashita Park Rooftop
The architecture of the mall is also really cool, mixing air-conditioned retail areas with outdoor open-air portions, as well as that park atop the entire building.
Miyashita Park Climbing Wall
The mall, officially called Rayard Miyashita Park, is actually part of a series of Rayard malls across Japan that have been repurposing boring regular public parks into these modern mixed-use lifestyle and retail complexes. It's really a very fascinating building to see and explore.
Miyashita Park Interior
There are also plenty of fashion shops and some souvenir shops on the second floor where you can check out a variety of souvenirs that you could buy back. Sadly, the Kitkat Chocolatory that was on the 2nd floor closed down during the COVID pandemic, as that was one of the main draws for tourists in the mall.
Miyashita Park Food Court
The selection of food in the food court is also rather disappointing as it mainly consists of fast food chains like McDonalds, Taco Bell, and Panda Express, rather than offering up a selection of unique Japanese dishes. The thought process might be for these fast food shops to cater to the Japanese youths who patronize the mall often.
Shibuya Yokocho
There is also the Shibuya Yokocho located on the first floor, while it does seem attractive to foreigners with that -like vibe. We do feel like the place is a bit of a tourist trap, or even trap, as the food is definitely priced higher than other comparable places, while the food quality is also not as good. Definitely, if you're looking to experience the atmosphere, you might want to try it out, but otherwise, you can definitely find better food options elsewhere in Shibuya.

Valley Park Stand is our favourite cafe in Miyashita Park, located on the top floor of the mall (the same level as the park and lobby of Sequence Miyashita Park). The cafe has a nice bright interior, with full-height windows, as well as beautiful wooden tables that come with power plugs making it ideal for remote work. Beside the windows, there are also lounge chairs, that make it a great option for those just looking to sit and chat. They offer up a variety of affordable espresso-based drinks, sandwiches, and desserts. Best of all, they open late into the night, so if you're looking to get some work done after dinner, this is the place to be.

The Matcha Tokyo

The Matcha Tokyo is a popular drink stand in Miyashita Park serving up 100% organic matcha, and offers up a variety of matcha drinks and desserts. We personally really enjoy their as well as their matcha soft serve.

Kith Treats Tokyo

Operating Hours

11:00 to 21:00, L.O. 20:30 (Daily)

Originating from New York, Kith Treats offers a unique ice-cream bar experience where you can customize the various toppings on your ice cream. You can pick the base flavour of your ice cream, including some cereal-infused options, as well as toppings like chocolate and more. The ice cream itself is pretty rich, so we recommend sharing it with someone.
Pizza from Dra Eight Man

渋谷DRAエイトマン

Shibuya Dra Eight Man

Operating Hours

11:00 to 22:00, L.O. 21:30 (Daily)

Dra Eight Man is a great Japanese-inspired Italian restaurant that serves up classic wood-fired pizzas and handmade pasta with a Japanese twist. The restaurant features a lively atmosphere, and a large variety of beers, wines, and alcohol. Personally, we really enjoyed the pizzas and pasta here. You might think it strange to come to Japan to have Italian food, but looking at how Italian food is being infused with Japanese flavours might give you an entirely new take on this cuisine.
Mocha from Cafe Kitsune

Café Kitsuné Shibuya

Operating Hours

11:00 to 21:00, L.O. 20:30 (Daily)

Cafe Kitsune is the cafe arm of the French fashion house, Maison Kitsune, and they brand themselves as a Japanese-French cafe. It's a rather small shop, but a nice place to get a seat and take a break after some exploration in Shibuya. They serve their own in-house roasted blend of coffee, Brent Coffee, as well as sandwiches and sweets. In our opinion, the cafe is priced on the higher side of things, so it would not be our top recommendation for a cafe in Miyashita Park.

渋谷横丁

Shibuya Yokocho

Operating Hours

11:00 to 05:00 (Daily)

Shibuya Yokocho is part of the Yokocho chain of food halls, consisting of multiple -style restaurants that each represent a different area of Japan. It's typically a great place to go if you're looking to get some drinks and experience the local drinking culture. Personally for us, we feel like the food is overpriced and mediocre, and is a bit of a tourist trap for both foreigners and locals.
