The pass is available in 24 hour, 48 hour, and 72 hour denominations, with the period starting from first-use of the ticket. Note that unlike most rail passes, these tickets aren’t based on calendar days, but by the actual duration of time.
Given that the minimum fare on Tokyo Metro is ¥170, using the ticket 5 times in a day would make a 24 hour ticket worth, 4 rides per day would make a 48 hour ticket worth, and 3 rides per day would make a 72 hour ticket worth.
Since tourists often go attraction hopping in Tokyo, there’s a good chance that the ticket will be worth your money especially with the 3 day pass. The main scenario where the pass would not be recommended if you are using it on days where you mainly visit Odaiba, Mount Takao, Tokyo’s suburbs and other places not covered by the pass.

Our Take and Review of Tokyo Subway Ticket

Recommended
If you are planning to travel within downtown Tokyo, then this is the pass that you should get. While it does not cover the JR trains, the Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway train network cover access to most of the same locations. If you plan to travel to multiple destinations a day, it is quite easy to earn your money back, especially for the 48-hour and 72-hour versions.
Do note that this doesn't cover access to the suburbs outside of downtown Tokyo or Odaiba. It also doesn't cover access to (成田空港, Narita-kūkō) or (羽田空港, Haneda-kūkō).
For Narita Airport, you can consider getting the Keisei Skyliner & Tokyo Subway Ticket that includes this ticket, and the train ticket for the Keisei Skyliner between Keisei-Ueno Station and Narita Airport.
